Russia-Ukraine news: US Drone, Russia Jet Collide Over Black Sea

 


A US MQ-9 Reaper drone collided with a Russian Su-27 fighter jet over the Black Sea on 9 March 2023, according to the Russian defense ministry. The incident occurred during a routine surveillance mission by the US drone. The US Defense Department has not confirmed the collision, but said they were aware of reports of the incident.


The Russian defense ministry claims that the Su-27 intercepted the drone after it entered Russian airspace and attempted to identify it. The collision occurred during the intercept.


Tensions between the US and Russia have been high in recent years, particularly over issues related to Ukraine. The incident is likely to further escalate tensions between the two countries.

Border violence displaces 76,000 in Lebanon: Hezbollah

 The International Organization for Migration (IOM) of the United Nations reported on Friday that nearly three months of nearly daily fighting along the border with Israel had resulted in the displacement of more than 76,000 people in Lebanon. The boundary region has seen a flood of viciousness since early October, with blow for blow trades of fire forging ahead with Friday between Israeli powers and Hezbollah. In a report distributed on Thursday, the IOM said that the heightening had uprooted 76,018 individuals, predominantly in areas of southern Lebanon lining Israel.
