How user can delete Instagram account & What you need to know before deleting an Instagram account

Finally, users of the iOS Instagram app will be able to delete their accounts from their iPhones. To delete their accounts for good, users had to use the desktop client or open Instagram in a mobile browser. The move follows a larger change to the Apple App Store policy that went into effect on June 30 and required app developers to include an account deletion system in their apps if the apps allow users to create accounts (via Apple).

Users will have "more control over the personal data they've shared", Apple claims, as a result of the new requirement. Apple specifies that the account will be permanently deleted from the developers' records and that all associated data must also be deleted with the account deletion. The business makes it abundantly clear that users can no longer only temporarily deactivate their accounts. While the Instagram app for mobile devices already provides users with the ability to deactivate their accounts, the app has not yet provided a comparable option for permanently deleting their profiles.

TechCrunch cited a Meta spokesperson as saying, "We want to give people more ways to control their experience and time spent on Instagram". Make sure you are aware of the consequences, as we get into the specifics of how to delete an Instagram account within the app. All the information listed on your profile, as well as the photos, videos, and comments that are associated with it, will be permanently erased if you decide to delete your account

What you need to know before deleting an Instagram account

Have you decided that Instagram isn't right for your business? No problem. In contrast to reality, there is an undo button: You can permanently delete your Instagram account.

In contrast to the process of deactivating an account, deletion means that your account data cannot be retrieved even if you later create a new account with the same username, linked email address, or phone number. On the other hand, you have the option of downloading a copy of your Instagram account's data, such as posts and photos. However, the platform may take up to 14 days to email you the download link, so be prepared in advance. After you've read those warnings, here's how to delete your Instagram account:

Tap the profile icon that appears in the bottom-right corner of the Instagram app when you open it.

If you have multiple accounts logged in, tap the hamburger menu icon in the top-right corner after selecting the profile you want to delete.

Consider backing up your account data before you delete it, in case you need it later. Be aware that the data won't be individual profile photos, videos, comments, etc. But rather an HTML or JSON format that can be read by computers.

Ready? You can delete your Instagram account using the app, a computer, or a mobile web browser in the following ways

Tap the Settings option in the menu window that opens.

Tap Account under Settings.

There is now a new option at the bottom of the Account page that says "Delete Account".

When you tap Delete Account, Instagram will ask you once more whether you want to permanently disable your account or delete it. You'll be fine if you choose the first option.

A request to delete an account is processed by Instagram within 30 days. Therefore, if you change your mind within that time frame, you can simply open the app to stop the process
