How Do You FaceTime On Android?
Even if you use Android, there is a good chance that at some point you will need to FaceTime with friends or family members who use Apple devices. Is that realistic? Yes, it kind of is. Android users can now participate in FaceTime calls through Apple, but making these calls is a completely different matter.
Simply put, Apple's video chatting application is known as FaceTime. It comes preloaded on the iPhone, iPad, and Macintosh PCs with the goal that clients might video call other Mac clients at any point rapidly and without any problem. FaceTime, on the other hand, is a feature of Apple's "walled garden", which means that it can only be used with Apple products.
FaceTime is without a doubt one of the easiest and smoothest video chat methods available, and it has been around long enough that even casual users are familiar with it. The software is great if you are an Apple user who knows a lot of other Apple users. However, things get a little more complicated if you use Windows or Android, and one of the reasons for this is that you can't download the software and use it to make your own calls.
However, with the release of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS 12 Monterey, Apple eased some of the restrictions on FaceTime, allowing anyone, including Android users, to join a call initiated by an Apple user. In this way, FaceTime is possible on Android, but only if you are invited to join a call that has already been started by someone using an Apple product
Joining a FaceTime call on Android
Similar to how other video-based messaging platforms from Google and Zoom handle invites for individuals who are not already on their respective platforms, FaceTime on Android (and Windows, if you prefer to sit in front of your laptop) is based on a link.
To join a FaceTime call, Apple says you'll need your Android device and the most recent version of Google Chrome on it. The Google Play Store lets you download and install Chrome for Android. Open the app's page in the Play Store and, if it is there, tap the "Update" button if you already have it installed. If there is no option to update, the most recent mobile browser version is already installed on your device.
You will need to tap the FaceTime call link that your contact has sent to you now that you are using the most recent version of Google Chrome on your Android phone or tablet. When an Apple user starts a FaceTime session, a link is created. They will need to copy it and send it to you, which can be done through a text message, for example.
The FaceTime call will begin within Chrome when the link is tapped. Tap "Continue" after entering the name that you want the other participants to see. If FaceTime asks for permission to use your Android device's camera and microphone, click "Allow" on the browser prompt. If you don't, the other people on the call won't be able to see or hear you.
Wait before tapping "Join". Before you can participate, the FaceTime call host must accept you into the call after determining that you are prepared to join. You will be able to use many of the same Chrome features as Apple users once you get into the call. These features include buttons to turn on and off your camera and microphone, a camera flip button to switch between the front and rear phone cameras, and a full-screen button to make the video call window bigger.
With the Grid Layout interface, Android users can view other people in the call by presenting each person as a tile and automatically highlighting the tiles of people who are speaking. Android users can enable Grid Layout by tapping the Grid Layout button, which resembles a large square made up of four smaller squares, followed by tapping the triple-dot setting menu button.
To end the call, all you need to do is tap the "Leave" button
