Pakistani police fire tear gas into Imran Khan's home as defiant former leader resists arrest

 


Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's home was tear-gassed by police as they attempted to arrest him on charges of inciting violence during anti-government protests. Khan, who has been leading a campaign to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has vowed to resist the arrest and continue his protests until the government is brought down. The use of tear gas against Khan has sparked outrage among his supporters and human rights groups, who have accused the government of using excessive force to silence dissent. The political crisis in Pakistan shows no signs of abating, and many fear that the use of force by the authorities will only further escalate tensions.

Border violence displaces 76,000 in Lebanon: Hezbollah

 The International Organization for Migration (IOM) of the United Nations reported on Friday that nearly three months of nearly daily fighting along the border with Israel had resulted in the displacement of more than 76,000 people in Lebanon. The boundary region has seen a flood of viciousness since early October, with blow for blow trades of fire forging ahead with Friday between Israeli powers and Hezbollah. In a report distributed on Thursday, the IOM said that the heightening had uprooted 76,018 individuals, predominantly in areas of southern Lebanon lining Israel.
