In an apparent attempt to link the Shiraz shrine attack to ongoing anti-government protests, Iran's President Raise promised a "severe response."

A day after ISIL (ISIS) claimed responsibility for a deadly assault on a shrine in the southern city of Shiraz, Iran's President Ibrahim Raise stated that "riots" pave the way for "terror" attacks.  

A statement from the ISIS telegram channel claiming responsibility for the attack was cited by Reuters hours after the raid. Additionally, the group has issued a statement via its affiliated news agency stating that one of its members targeted groups of Sunni refusal infidels inside the shrine with his machine gun, causing the death of tens of them

In an apparent attempt to link the shrine attack to ongoing anti-government protests in the country, he stated on Thursday in televised remarks, "The intention of the enemy is to disrupt the country's progress, and then these riots pave the ground for terrorist acts."

According to official media, an attack on a significant Shia Muslim shrine in Shiraz on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of at least 15 individuals
