Border violence displaces 76,000 in Lebanon: Hezbollah

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) of the United Nations reported on Friday that nearly three months of nearly daily fighting along the border with Israel had resulted in the displacement of more than 76,000 people in Lebanon. The boundary region has seen a flood of viciousness since early October, with blow for blow trades of fire forging ahead with Friday between Israeli powers and Hezbollah. In a report distributed on Thursday, the IOM said that the heightening had uprooted 76,018 individuals, predominantly in areas of southern Lebanon lining Israel. More than 80% of the dislodged Lebanese are remaining with family members, as per the report, and just two percent housed in 14 aggregate sanctuaries spread across the south of the country, predominantly in the seaside city of Tire and in the Hasbaya locale. The remainder, according to the UN agency, have relocated to homes or apartments further from the border. Cross-line brutality has left 175 individuals dead in Leba

Israel bombs Gaza as UN warns territory 'uninhabitable'

Israel has bombed Gaza, causing the United Nations to warn that the Palestinian territory has become "uninhabitable" after three months of fighting. The UN has warned of a deepening humanitarian crisis as famine looms and disease spreads. Gaza's future is "dark and gloomy and very difficult," with hundreds of thousands of people seeking shelter from the fighting. The UN's children's agency warned that clashes, malnutrition, and a lack of health services have created a deadly cycle that threatens over 1.1 million children in Gaza. Israeli forces are continuing to fight in all parts of the Gaza Strip, with a high state of readiness near the border with Lebanon following the killing of a top Hamas commander in a strike in Beirut. The war in Gaza was triggered by an unprecedented attack on Israel launched by Hamas on October 7, resulting in the deaths of around 1,140 people, most of them civilians.
